Discussion

Most people have made China bashing staple around here. Some comments from people disagree with the bloggers and try their best to show the readers why the bloggers are wrong.

This is from one blog: A week before the Opening Ceremony, some foreign journalists have dubbed them the "No-Fun Games," the "Fun-Free Games" and the "Killjoy Games."

In an article for the same website called China's quest to build the biggest and tallest, a reader Edward from NY makes a comment which I think is very valid. he says:

"I lived in China for 6 years. I will be quite happy when people respect China and it's people. Our nationalism has kept us from appreciating the great strides made around the world in the past 20 years. We need to get out of our collective bubble and start engaging these people as equals. The era of American arrogance is over. We are all people, and all capable of great progress. If we don't learn to respect other countries, they will simply grow without us and form strong alliances and relationships amongst themselves as they have already begun to do."

Edward, New York, NY

Isn't it time people stopped China bashing. It is right around time for the Olympics. Everyone needs to get in the Olympic spirit. The games which are about competition but unity. Shouldn't these people cut China some slack? We had Sharon Stone very rudely saying its Karma when china got hit with he earthquake. It was her thing to say because fo the free Tibet campaign. Who sis eh to make these comments. Same way it's about time the journals stopped the China bashing.

Hmm, nice, I suspect people in China are not yet able to access this site though...as it seems after talking to a few friends there..

just returned a month back from china and i must say i didn't want to be back...i found the country so disciplined in every aspect... honesty prevailed n it was truely a safe country....can we let out girls drive buses n taxis in india????????? i guess never.....so well they manage the population... instead of criticising them we ought to learn from them.....n try to achieve what they have....

"girls drive buses n taxis in india ?????" Is this a rhetorical question ? Check out: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/south_asia/3541394.stm

What is it that they do differently that makes it so safe? How can India achieve that kind of disciple and safety perhaps without necessarily sacrificing the freedom of the people? Perhaps, a major difference between India and China is that India has much higher diversity and many different types of groups relative to China, even though China has a larger population, and the attitudes of the different groups are very different. How can we overcome the difficulty?

Have you seen the picture of the man standing before the tanks rolling in on Tianenman Square in 1989 ? Ask him what he feels about discipline and security in China and he'll tell you the cost of safety.

Well you asked "What is it that they do differently that makes it so safe? How can India achieve that kind of disciple and safety perhaps without necessarily sacrificing the freedom of the people?" here is the answer:

They have same laws for every one.irrespective of who you are, what you are where you are.. if only all of us also have the same policy.and follow it too. It is up to all of us to make our respective homeland the best.let us all pledge today and everyday to be honest and sincere and be true in every sphere of life.
