Facebook News Feed

He [Zuckerberg] developed something he called News Feed, a built-in service that would actively broadcast changes in a user’s page to every one of his or her friends. Students would no longer need to spend their time zipping around to examine each friend’s page, checking to see if there was any new information. Instead, they would just log into Facebook, and News Feed would appear: a single page that — like a social gazette from the 18th century — delivered a long list of up-to-the-minute gossip about their friends, around the clock, all in one place. “A stream of everything that’s going on in their lives,” as Zuckerberg put it.

hi guys i came across this group in facebook, n was thinking if more people can report it. thx plz c 4 urself why i would ask ur help

Yes, I certainly don't favor hate groups like this. All languages are something very beautiful and symbolize a form of education and Hindi is a great language and my mother tongue. BSF is India's border security force. Our goal is not to suppress people but to eliminate the hate through understanding. 110 people have joined this group and seem pretty serious. If something is seriously wrong, and as good citizens of the world we should try to understand the problem and come up with ways to resolve it. Otherwise, such a group should be reported and banned because India doesn't hate Urdu and is not trying to demolish it either. Contemplating how to demolish a language or culture is not a step toward a peaceful society, the issue is rather how to demolish the crime.

Facebook Advertising

So, what do you all think of Facebook's grammar requirement in the advertising? Are they trying to get all professional or teach people grammar? It certainly is hurting their ad revenue it seems or is it?

I wonder if a lot of the approval is done automatically. I had a few ads approved, then finally my new market in my new country told me what they wanted. So I advertised it. It was definitely NOT a get-rich-quick scheme, scam, or anything of the sort. It was a very genuine account of my own business experience and how I can help people in a similar position to where I was at to make money in Cape Town sensibly. There were no false promises, and certainly no pyramid schemes, which I abhor. If anything, I went quite some way to tell the reader about the shortfalls. And there was a very genuine special offer which I really cannot afford to offer for long. All excited, I ordered the ad. And it was rejected.

Overall though, I have gained a few potential clients from other ads, and that's always good. It's value for money, although a bit nanny-ish. No doubt some individual will ban me completely there one day. Then ban a lot more others, then some executive will look at their figures and sort it out. I think.

Interesting, I put up one ad for Whackpedia in Facebook, and it was approved. Then I put up the same ad with the same text for a different audience, and it was disapproved, although I'm not sure what was wrong with it. The same text was approved the third time. Perhaps, if it gets rejected once, you can try again and see if someone else will approve it.

Virtual Dictatorship

Democracy or Dictatorship? I am not the type of person who wants to spread paranoid conspiracy theories or get involved in any politics but I can see a real danger if we all get too dependant on Facebook and there is no way to address these types of issues. Facebook now has as many users as the whole population of The United Kingdom. As citizens in this virtual country are we living in a democratic and free society or an oppressive controlling dictatorship?
